X-DF Dual-Fuel Engine & UNIC Control System – Operation and Simulator Training course
Day 1
X-DF Engine Fundamentals & System Overview – X-DF operating principle, major engine components, dual-fuel concept, gas supply system, fuel gas valve unit (FGVU), gas admission, ignition system, UNIC control system architecture and operator interfaces.
Simulator Familiarisation & Engine Start-up – Identify main systems, operate UNIC interface, prepare engine for operation and carry out normal start-up on Diesel/Gas mode.
Day 2
Gas Mode Operation & Engine Control – Transition between diesel and gas operation, gas admission control, load-up/load-down procedures, combustion control, cylinder monitoring, exhaust gas parameters, knocking/misfiring and UNIC control functions.
Simulator: Diesel-to-Gas & Gas-to-Diesel Operation – Start and stabilise the engine, change operating modes, perform controlled load changes and monitor engine parameters through UNIC.
Day 3
Fuel Gas System & Safety – Gas supply system, FGVU operation, gas pressure/temperature control, double-wall piping, ventilation, gas detection, purging, inerting, ESD system and safety interlocks.
Simulator: Gas System Operation & Safety Scenario – Prepare the gas system, perform purging/ventilation, establish gas operation and respond to a gas leak/gas pressure abnormality using UNIC and ESD functions.
Day 4
Fault Finding & Abnormal Operations – UNIC alarms, shutdowns, slowdowns, gas trips, misfiring, cylinder imbalance, low gas pressure, high exhaust temperature, actuator/control failures and troubleshooting philosophy.
Simulator: Abnormal & Emergency Operation – Manage simulated alarms and faults including gas trip, cylinder misfire, high exhaust temperature and automatic changeover to diesel mode.
Day 5
Integrated X-DF Operation & Troubleshooting – Engine performance monitoring, optimisation, load management, gas/diesel consumption, alarm management, emergency procedures and systematic troubleshooting using UNIC.
Simulator: Conduct engine start-up, gas operation, load changes, gas/diesel changeover, manage multiple alarms/faults and safely stabilise the engine following an emergency.
Daily Simulator Progression
Day 1: Familiarisation → Start-up → Normal operation
Day 2: Gas operation → Load changes → Fuel-mode changeover
Day 3: Gas system → Purging → Gas leak/ESD response
Day 4: Alarms → Fault diagnosis → Emergency operation
Day 5: Full integrated X-DF + UNIC control exercise and assessment
