Objective:
The aim of this course is to introduce the user to the preparation of Voyage Planning with the use of the ECDIS system. On completing the course, the trainees will gain
• Voyage Planning aspects, principles and constraints
• ECDIS preparation for voyage planning and stages of the planning
• Route creation and route editing on ECDIS , using the Table and Graphic editors
• ECDIS configuration guide

Subject Areas:
This course provides the comprehensive understanding of the theory and practice of voyage planning in accordance with IMO Resolution A 893 (21) and also satisfies the training requirements of Section A-II/1 and II/2 of the STCW Code 1978 as amended in 2010.
Course Content:
- Define the international mandatory requirements for passage planning
- Demonstrate use of Procedures required for Passage Planning
- Appraise a Passage Plan
- Produce a Passage Plan
- Demonstrate to plan the Voyage in ECDIS
- Navigate the vessel using ECDIS
- Demonstrate the correct monitoring and executing of the Voyage Plan
