Chemical Tanker Cargo & Ballast Handling Simulator (LCHS)
Objective: Will acquire knowledge of the chemical tanker layout and skills in its equipment. Gain understanding of the industry and regulations concerning cargo and ballast water handling; Obtain comprehensive training in cargo handling i.e. loading, unloading including simultaneous operations; terminal procedures. Get knowledge in development of cargo plans, performing necessary stability calculations. Learn to perform inerting of cargo tanks and pipelines, pre-wash and tank cleansing procedures Possess sufficient knowledge of gas detection equipment to perform tanks atmosphere control.
Subject Areas:
This course meets the requirements laid down in Regulation 1/12, Sections A-1/12, The B- 1/12 and Table A-V/1-1-3 of the STCW Convention and Code as amended in 2010.
and is in compliance with IMO Model Course 1.37.
Course Content:
- Familiarization with all cargo equipment & Instrumentation and controls
- Awareness for a proper pre-planning, the use of checklists in various cargo operations.
- Line up for Loading, Discharging, Wall wash test, Tank cleaning, Ballasting, Inerting & Gas freeing.
- Planning of multigrade cargo loading & discharging operations on loadicater
- Pump theory and operations
- Monitor loading, stability, care during the voyage and unloading of Chemical cargo.
- Effective Communication, Teamwork, Leadership, decision-making ability in order to promote safety and protect the environment.
